Chef Maria Fiestas
Chef Maria Fiestas born in Northern Perú from a respected family of fisherman. She inherited her love for cooking at an early age watching her mother and grandmother cook regionally inspired and traditional seafood dishes. At fourteen, she learned the cooking “secrets” of “Cocina Criolla” (Creole) cooking style, influenced through generations of European migration to Perú.
Four years later she moved to Callao, and opened a “Picanteria” where she remained in business for 37 years until political struggle in Perú prompted her move to the United States where in the year 2000, La Furia Chalaca restaurant was born. Chef Maria continues her family traditions at La Furia Chalaca and invites you to come and savor our old traditions, as we mix them with the new.
